Experience

I’m qualified to help you because in my late fifties, I course-corrected to achieve my secret lifelong dream of becoming a writer. I published my debut novel at age 60. Four years later, second novel due out in 2021. I’ve won some awards, published my first short story and am immersed in writing novel #3. I have recent, painful, first-hand knowledge of what it takes to get it done.

I began my career as an editorial assistant at Pocket Books, a division of Simon & Schuster; I was an editor at Running Press. I’ve since worked as a freelance editor, copywriter, writing coach and writing workshop leader. I was Corporate Communications Director at Barnes & Noble. I have extensive experience as a communications strategist, both on staff and as a consultant. I’ve held senior level positions at blue-chip companies as speechwriter, project manager, director of employee engagement, corporate communications, and business development.

“Stephanie was an amazing resource for my first novel. More than any other editor I've worked with, she's a big picture reader. Her intuitive sense of character and story alerted me to my own blind spots and took my work to new and exciting places. She always finds time for me when I need her.”

"Stephanie Gangi shifted my novel into high gear by providing me with an editing strategy. I knew it needed to be pared down, my characters' arcs sharpened, and the novel's point-of-view clarified. But I didn't know how to do it. Stephanie gave me not only the keys to unlock my project, but the confidence I needed to do the work. Her smarts, skills, and friendship have been a godsend."
